12 Year Olds & Up

We offer a variety of levels of each genre of dance for dancers that are new and experienced. We have a teen level class for dancers that are newer to dance and need to refine their beginner level skills to move up.

Ballet

Ballet is the basis of most dance forms. It is a disciplined stage art based on centuries old tradition of movement and skills. Ballet focuses on posture, placement and technique. Students will learn terminology (names and meanings of steps) and how to properly execute steps and combinations.

Pointe

Pointe is an extension of the ballet class when dancers have reached a higher level of discipline in their ballet training. This class is by placement only as we take great pride in making sure that our dancers are ready and developed enough to go up on pointe with ease.

Tap

Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion. Tap dancing originated with African dancers in early America. When dancing, they would articulate rhythmic patterns through chugging, scooping, brushing and shuffling movements of the feet.

Jazz

Jazz dance is a form of dance that combines both African and European dance styles. This high-energy dance has a liveliness that sets it apart from traditional dance forms, such as ballet. Jazz is characterized by intricate footwork, quick turns and body isolations. Students are encouraged to add personality to movement to make performances more entertaining.

Lyrical

Lyrical is a dance style that combines ballet and jazz into one. Lyrical is an expressive for of dance that focuses on musicality and lyrics to drive the movement. Choreography often mirrors the lyrics of a song to convey a story to the audience or relay a message from the choreographer.

Hip Hop

Hip hop dance is a style of street dance that evolved from hip hop culture and hip hop music. It borrows elements from a number of different styles like African dance, tap, jazz, and ballet. Hip hop dance began as a freestyle dance performed in the streets by dance crews, mostly to hip hop music. Our hip hop classes are always age appropriate with song selections, movement and costuming.

Acro

In Acro, students learn tumbling skills to enhance strength, flexibility, coordination and confidence in dance. This class is designed to build physical ability and will help in any style of dance students choose to do. Students will have fun and come out of class with a sense of accomplishment.

Contemporary

A form of dance that combines modern and ballet. Dancers must have strong foundations in ballet and improvisation. Contemporary explores grounded movement, improvisation and qualities of dance to add layers to the quality of their movement.

Inspire Dance

Inspire was created in 1997 to fulfill the need for dance to individuals with exceptionalities. It was initially created for wheelchair users and has since evolved to meet the needs of students with exceptionalities in learning including developmental delays. We believe that everyone can dance if they have the desire to learn. Please contact the director for details regarding INSPIRE program.
